Lists on the subject |
The No. 4 is an Israeli anti-personnel mine , technically similar to the Soviet PMD-6 .
It was used in various countries in the Middle East , but also in other conflict areas such as Angola or the Falkland Islands .
Although its case is made of hard plastic, the No. 4 Compared to other mines of this material type, it is relatively easy to locate, even with conventional metal detectors.
description
The mine consists of a mostly green colored, rectangular plastic box with a hinged lid, which encloses the lower part of the housing. The main charge is in a separate box, which makes up about half of the total volume. At the end opposite the hinge there is a thread into which the ignition group is screwed. After these have been installed, the detonator and a locking pin protrude from the mine box.
Modified models were found in Lebanon in which metal plates were screwed onto the top to increase the splinter effect.
The No. 4 is visually similar to the Yugoslav PMA-1 .
