Noblesse (Webtoon)
Noblesse ( Korean 노블레스 ) is a webtoon written by Son Jae Ho and illustrated by Lee Gwang Su. Noblesse is about a powerful vampire nobleman named Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, also known as Raizel or Rai, who has been in a kind of hibernation for 820 years after being injured in a fight.
history
Noblesse was published on the South Korean web portal and app Naver Webtoon from December 30, 2007 to January 7, 2019. The webtoon portal has been known internationally as Line Webtoon since July 2014 and Noblesse is one of the first webtoons to receive an English translation.
In 2015 and 2016, the Manhwa was adapted into two original video animations ( OVA ).
action
At the beginning of the webtoon, Rai wakes up in an abandoned building in South Korea and tries to orientate himself in the modern world. After a long sleep, he has no knowledge of the many different advances made by mankind, he has to get used to cultural and scientific changes.
Right at the beginning he ends up in a school run by his loyal servant Frankenstein. This facilitates Raizel's integration into modern society and his well-known high school, while Rai tries to uncover his past. At school, Raizel befriends the athletic but academically weak teenager Shinwoo Han, the computer geek Ikhan Woo and a few others. In a series of dangerous adventures, the protagonists cross their borders, form strong bonds, fight genetically modified humans, the secret organization called "Union" and supernatural beings.

Nobles
The vampire-like nobles are an ancient and powerful race that possesses great strength, speed, and telepathy . Furthermore, they have long lifetimes and a strict code of honor and conduct.
The nobles are classified hierarchically among themselves according to the purity of their bloodline, which can each develop different blood-related abilities. They have nothing to do with the typical notion of vampires, who are called "infected" in this world and are just unconscious monsters. The nobles are keen to eliminate all infected because they cannot afford to be noticed by all of humanity.
They live in isolation on an island called Lukedonia that cannot be recognized by the human senses. "Noblesse" is a title that only one person of the species can hold, the highest authority, though not necessarily in a political sense. Among them there is the "Lord" who takes over the government of the race.
The word "noblesse" comes from the French concept " noblesse oblige " (Eng. "Nobility oblige"), which means that those with more privileges also have more duties and must use their power responsibly, especially to help others ...
Genetically Modified People
Experiments have been made on genetically modified people, usually by national governments or organizations such as the Union, in order to gain more military power. Successful "experiments" are much more powerful and biologically stable than normal people. Failed experiments are often discarded or die due to genetic instability. Changed people are fortunate enough to be able to completely transform their bodies at will. Some of them are also intellectually trained to use a particular weapon or manipulate technology.
Werewolves
Werewolves have existed as long as the noble nobles, but are comparatively weaker than them. Werewolves are aggressive and warlike. They believe that the strong have the right to rule the weak. It shows in their culture. They choose their leaders based on their strength, if someone is stronger they can fight for position. Werewolves have superior regenerative powers over the nobles. Unlike the nobles, the werewolves were interested in the reinforcement experiments of humans and carried them out themselves.
Warriors are an elite group of fighters within werewolf society. They act as leaders and protectors of their race. Those who are strong and mighty are chosen as warriors. Warriors are responsible for leading and protecting the weaker members. Later chapters show that there are two categories of warriors: those who attain their status after experimenting with physical modification, and those who already attained warrior status before embarking on experiments.

Cadis Etrama Di Raizel
Cadis Etrama Di Raizel is the main character in the Manhwa series. He is a nobleman from Lukedonia who bears the special title “Noblesse”, which distinguishes him from all other nobles, as their hidden protector and judge, and if necessary, executioner. He is Frankenstein's master and is currently attending Ye Ran High School to learn more about the modern human world.
Rai is characterized by its extremely striking elegance. In addition to its beauty, charm and goodness, its lack of orientation is one of its most distinctive characteristics. He has red eyes, a mark of pure classy people, and shiny black hair. He wears a silver cross earring on his left ear that later turns out to be a gift from the previous lord and a regulator of his powers.
Raizel has great powers, which is also a great burden. After strenuous use of his powers, his health and well-being deteriorate. Sometimes he needs to sleep longer to recover. It is duty to bear responsibility for such power that leads him to act in a reticent and seemingly apathetic manner. However, its apparent perfection is broken by its perplexity and inability to understand and use the technology found in modern times.
Frankenstein
Frankenstein is the deuteragonist of the series. He has signed a treaty with the noblesse in the past. He is Rai's loyal servant and has served him faithfully for several centuries. Frankenstein is the founder and director of Ye Ran High School. He is also a member of the group RK-5 (Rai's Knights; German Rais Knights) entitled "Number 0 " .
He is a brilliant scientist whose past research data has helped bring the Union's scientific knowledge and technology to their advanced level. Thanks to his weapon (the dark spear), Frankenstein is the most powerful person there has ever been. His identity as a human was only revealed later.
Frankenstein is a very loyal person, especially towards his master, and can get serious and calculating when the situation calls for it. You can tell that he becomes reckless, extremely dangerous and bloodthirsty if he uses too much of his power. Although his sadistic side always comes to the fore during the battles against his enemies, he, like his master, is compassionate with people, which is evident in his concern for the students after a near-murder.
He is portrayed several times as being very organized and he detests dirt and clutter, especially in his house, and lets everyone, except Rai, clean up their own filth, even the nobles.
Shinwoo Han
Han Shinwoo is a normal teenager on the show. He is a student at Ye Ran High School and the first to befriend Rai there. He's also an incredibly skilled martial artist and Ikhan's best friend. Shinwoo is an energetic and athletic teenager with bright red hair and blue eyes. He can almost always be seen with a bandage over the bridge of his nose. He is known in the city as invincible and is feared by many gangs. He is known to defend those who cannot fight back, even if he is not strong enough, as he demonstrated in his fight against a mutant. Shinwoo is often shown asleep in class.
Ikhan Woo
Woo Ikhan is an ordinary person too. He gets on well with Frankenstein and often hangs out with his friends in his house because Raizel lives there.
He's very talented when it comes to tech and hacking. Ikhan is a brown-haired teenager who is a bit short at 157 cm. Ikhan takes pride in his technical ability and is happy when others recognize his talent. Ikhan values his friends and is not afraid to stand up to others in order to save them. He can be a bit mischievous himself, although he often reprimands Shinwoo for his behavior. He and Shinwoo know each other from childhood.
Seira J. Loyard
Seira J. Loyard is a noblewoman and is one of the eight current clan leaders of Lukedonia. She lives with Regis at Frankenstein's and is a student at Ye Ran High School. She is the last member of the RK-5. Seira has silver hair and was noted for her beauty by many different people and other nobles. Seira is calm and straightforward and only speaks when she thinks it is necessary.
Seira J. Loyard is the last remaining royal member of the Loyard clan, which is why she also has the position of clan leader, although she is very young. Her position is confirmed by her possession of the Loyard family's soul weapon. She became Loyard clan leader at the age of 117 and is under the care of Gejutel Landegre, Regis head, who is highly valued by her.
Regis K. Landegre
Regis K. Landegre has eye-catching silver hair with black stripes on either side. It's rather short for its age. He lives by the code of the nobles and protects people, although it is believed that his father was killed by them. He is focused on elegance and often criticizes his enemies for lack of class and elegance. He shows the characteristic stubbornness of the Landegre clan and reacts strongly to provocations.
Muzaka
Muzaka is the former leader of the werewolves and the only equal friend of Cadis Etrama Di Raizel before his deep sleep. It is revealed that he is responsible for Rai's 820 years of sleep. Muzaka has gray eyes and long white hair and a large, muscular body that is covered in many battle scars. He used to look lively and approachable, but a bit arrogant. He is also seen as caring, as he tells Frankenstein that he is glad to see someone take care of his friend Raizel.
During his fight against Raizel he was very violent, aggressive and refused to listen to reason. After receiving help, his aggression was reduced and he regained his sanity.
After losing his daughter Ashleen, he sees the people as enemies. Rai stopped him from slaughtering all humans, which ended their long relationship.
Anime
The first 40-minute animation of Noblesse, produced by the animation studio Animal, was shown at the 17th Bucheon International Animation Festival . The DVD was released on December 4th, 2015 by Woongjin Thinkbig Funnism.
On February 4, 2016, the 30-minute OVA Noblesse: Awakening about the first season of the anime was released on Crunchyroll and YouTube . The first season of the anime is slated to run as Crunchyroll Original on Crunchyroll in 2020 , with Production IG being responsible for production.
