Nobuya Hoshino

Nobuya Hoshino ( Japanese 星野 展 弥 , Hoshino Nobuya ; * approx. 1938) is a former Japanese table tennis player . He became world champion in doubles in 1961.

Career

Nobuya Hoshino was Japanese champion in singles in 1960 and in mixed with Kazuko Itō in 1961 . In 1960 he won the Asian Cup with the team , in doubles with Goro Shinutani he reached the final.

He took part in world championships twice. In 1959 he became world champion in the team competition in Dortmund. He was most successful in Beijing in 1961 . In doubles with Kōji Kimura he defeated the Hungarians Ferenc Sidó / Zoltán Berczik in the final , in mixed with Masako Seki he reached the semi-finals. He won silver in the team competition.

In the ITTF world rankings , he was ranked 9-14 in 1961.
