Noel Coonan

Noel J. Coonan ( Irish Nollaig Ó Cuanáin ; born January 6, 1951 ) is an Irish politician and has been a member of the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament, since 2007 .

Coonan was elected to the Tipperary North County Council in 1991 and the Urban District Council of Templemore in 1994. In 1999 he was re-elected to both. After an unsuccessful candidacy for a seat in the Dáil Éireann 2002, Coonan was able to win a mandate for the 22nd Seanad Éireann for the Fine Gael . Since he had to resign from his other mandates, his wife Pauline Coonan moved up for him in the Tipperary North County Council .

In 2007 he was elected to the 30th Dáil Éireann.
