Nogrid points is software for calculating flows (Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD ) using a grid-free numerical method and has been developed and sold by Nogrid GmbH since 2006 . The numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations with the grid-free finite point method (FPM) has been used in the simulation of processes with large deformations, e.g. B. in glass production, advantages over classical numerical methods such. B. the finite element method .

Nogrid pointsBlow is part of the CFD products from Nogrid GmbH , which has been specially developed for the glass industry for calculating the mechanical shaping of container glass (see also glass production ). The software enables the simulation of all shaping steps necessary for the manufacture of container glass and is used with the aim of reducing the number of costly mold design and production trials.

With the Nogrid-pointsBlow software it is possible to simulate the following types of container glass manufacturing processes:

  1. BB (Blow and Blow)
  2. PB (Press and Blow or Wide Mouth PB)
  3. NNPB (Narrow Neck Press and Blow)
  4. PB (press and blow for the tableware industry)

As in reality, the simulation starts with loading the drop and ends with taking out the finished container. The glass drop geometry can be chosen as desired. All steps of the process are integrated in a simulation model; all walls that come into contact with the glass drop during the entire process are switched on or off according to the time specifications of the IS machine. The dimension of the numerical model can be freely selectable, fully 3-D, 3-D with symmetrical surfaces or 2-D rotationally symmetrical. The bottle shape can take any 3-D shape so that, for example, bottles with a handle can also be calculated.

Nogrid pointsBlow is sold worldwide and mainly used where manufacturing companies operate their own design or product development units. The software is available for Microsoft Windows and Linux.
