Remnants of the facade in Nohpat

Nohpat is a very large, but little-known and not publicly accessible ruin site in the Mexican state of Yucatán on the Sacbé , which runs from Kabah to Uxmal .

The area that Nohpat occupies is estimated by Dunning at 4.5 km², so the place would be almost as big as Kabah. However, constant stone robbery has meant that the buildings are in a particularly poor state of preservation. The central part of Nohpat consists of several courtyards on different terraces, delimited by buildings. In this zone there is also a very large and several smaller pyramids as well as a large number of heavily weathered, sculpted monuments. A ball playground is also centrally located .
