Nolbysts
The Nolbysten (also called Buresten - M 1 or RAÄ Njurunda 116: 1) is in Kvissleby-Nolby, south of Sundsvall near the Gulf of Bothnia in Medelpad in Sweden .
The rune stone is 1.55 m high, 0.65 m wide and 0.3 m thick and one of the 18 rune stones from Medelpad. The text reads: Barksven Sigfast and Fride built the stone after Bure, their father. Farþegn made the runes .
In addition to the runic inscription, it bears an 11th century paw cross . On the basis of the double serpentine band with an Irish belt , it is classified in the Ringerike style and dated from 1020 to 1050. The inscription comes from the rune master Fartägn (Farþegn).
The area has a concentration of historical and prehistoric artifacts. The Burestenen stands next to the ruins of a chapel from the early Middle Ages . Nearby are a collection of Viking Age tombs and twelve large burial mounds , one of which is the largest in Norrland .
