Norbert Sieber (born January 12, 1969 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. He has been a member of the Austrian National Council since 2013 and was previously a member of the National Council from 2002 to 2008.

Life

After attending primary and secondary school (1975–1984) in Bregenz, Norbert Sieber graduated from the agricultural college (1984–1987) in Hohenems . Norbert Sieber has been a farmer in Bregenz-Fluh since 1990. Sieber is married and has four children.

Political activity

Norbert Sieber's political career began as regional chairman of the rural youth / young farmers Vorarlberg (1989–1991). Subsequently, he was appointed federal deputy chairman of rural youth Austria (1991-1992). Sieber has been a member of the Bregenz city council since 1990. Sieber has held the office of chairman of the Unterland district farmers' association since 1999.

At the federal level, Sieber's political activity began in 2002 when he was elected a member of the Austrian National Council. After the People's Party suffered heavy losses in the National Council election in Austria in 2008 , Sieber retired from the National Council for one legislative period as second in the Vorarlberg North constituency . After he ran again as the top candidate in the constituency of Vorarlberg North for the ÖVP in the 2013 National Council election, he was able to regain the basic mandate and was sworn in again as a member of the National Council on October 29, 2013. In the National Council elections in 2017 and 2019 , Sieber was again able to win the basic mandate in the regional constituency of Vorarlberg North as the top candidate and thus move into the National Council.
