Nordøyan fyr

Nordøyan fyr is a lighthouse on the Norwegian coast in Nærøysund municipality in Trøndelag . The lighthouse, which is located on the island of Sunøya by the fishing village of Nordøyan north of Folda , was built in 1890 and is owned by the state. With the help of a large Fresnel lens that is still in use today, a range of 17.2 nautical miles is achieved. In 2005 the lighthouse was switched to automatic operation.

Near the lighthouse Nordøyan the demise of occurred in 1962 Hurtigruten -Schiffes Sanct Svithun .
