Nordhäuser Volksblatt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nordhäuser Volksblatt was a social democratic newspaper in Nordhausen .

history

The paper was founded on January 25, 1890 and appeared as the head edition of the Erfurt SPD newspaper Tribüne . The local editorial office was headed by August Gentztel. The catchment area included the city of Nordhausen and the Grafschaft Hohenstein district . Efforts to expand to the city of Frankenhausen failed due to the resistance of the local Social Democrats, who wanted to publish their own organ, so that the Volksblatt did not get more than around 350 subscribers. The publication was probably stopped at the end of September 1897. Since then, the grandstand in Nordhausen has been sold. It was not until the Nordhausen People's Newspaper was founded in 1905 that Nordhausen's own social democratic newspaper appeared again.
