North Hessian New Newspaper

The Nordhessische Neue Zeitung was a regional newspaper that appeared as a printed edition between May 1, 2005 and January 15, 2008. The IG Metall North Hesse supported the publication of the eight-page print edition in the Berliner format and the website Nordhessische.de - news for North Hesse by the end of 2008. The print edition appeared in print runs from 31,000 to 50,000 copies. It was distributed free of charge in businesses, residential areas and in downtown Kassel, as well as being displayed in shops and restaurants.

In addition to the world of work and trade unions, the North Hessian themed mainly social, cultural and ecological issues and local political events. The foundation of the newspaper took place against the background of the monopoly position of the local local newspaper HNA . The initiator and founder was the journalist Rüdiger Kreissl, who died in July 2005 and who had previously worked for the HNA for many years, including as chief reporter. After separating from HNA, Kreissl worked as a freelancer for Hessischer Rundfunk and, from 2004, was the campaign manager of Kassel's mayor Bertram Hilgen (SPD). After Kreissl's death, the journalist Martin Sehmisch became the new editor-in-chief.

In February 2007 the newspaper started a daily presence on the Internet. The last print edition of the Nordhessische Neue Zeitung appeared on January 15, 2008 . The newspaper then ran a news site on the Internet.

From February 1, 2009 to December 31, 2011, Nordhessische.de was a project of the Nordhessen Media eV association. From January 1, 2012, Sehmisch was the publisher of the online newspaper.

The editorial office was based in Kassel . The online newspaper was taken offline at the beginning of 2013.
