Jack Harris ( David Charvet ) lives in New York City . He quits a well-paying job to pursue his dream: to start the Tribeca Times newspaper . He wages a guerrilla war against his neighbor Samantha Feld ( Tia Carrere ) and lives single. There is an embarrassing scene when he answers his sister's question aloud in a café about when he last had sex . He replies just as loudly that it was nine months ago.
On his 29th birthday, Feld receives a voucher from her friend for the services of a dating agency. Harris is doing research for the editorial for the first issue of his newspaper, describing the city's matchmaking agencies. He uses the services of one of the agencies through which field is conveyed to him. Harris and Feld get to know each other better and become a couple. In the final scene, Harris shows his girlfriend the freshly printed first edition of the newspaper.
