North Markit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nordmarkit is a plutonic rock that originated from the Nordamarkitmagma near Oslo . Nordmarkit is one of the syenites .

Nordmarkit contains potassium feldspar , microcline , little quartz and a maximum of 10 percent biotite, as well as alkali pyroxene (aegirine) and alkali amphibole such as riebeckite or arfvedsonite . The color varies between gray-violet and pink. In the North Markit there are sometimes small titanite crystals .

This syenite is an alkali feldspar syenite. It was named after the Nordmarka landscape north of Oslo. Nordmarkit was created from a large pluton that stretches from Oslo to Lake Mjøsa . Nordmarkit is often found in the bed load in northern Germany and in the vicinity of Oslo this rock is often roughly hewn and used as masonry. It is broken, among other places, in Porsgrunn .
