Nordseebilder is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 390). The work was performed for the first time on November 16, 1879 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein under the direction of Eduard Strauss .

Remarks

The waltz was composed during a vacation that Johann Strauss spent on the North Sea island of Föhr . He processed the impressions of sea and land he gained there in this work. This explains the name of the waltz. The first performance took place on November 16, 1879 in the concert hall of the Vienna Musikverein. In the absence of the composer, his brother Eduard was in charge. On November 30th the waltz was performed again at the same location, this time under the direction of the composer. The reviews were benevolent but not euphoric. As a result, the work disappeared from the concert schedule. Only gradually did it return to the same.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 9 minutes and 15 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
