The Nordson Corporation is a manufacturer of precision equipment for applying adhesives, sealants and coatings. The company is headquartered in Westlake , Ohio and has operations in over 30 countries.
history
The company goes back to the US Automatic Company founded in 1909 . At that time, the company specialized in the production of low-cost turned parts for the automotive industry . In 1935 the focus of production was shifted to the manufacture of high-precision parts under the direction of the company founder at the time, Walter G. Nord.
In 1954 the Nordson Corporation was founded by the two brothers Eric and Evan Nord in Amherst, Ohio as a division of the US Automatic Corporation. The business model at the time concentrated on the patents for the hot and airless process for applying paints and coating materials. In the mid-1960s, the US Automatic Corporation was finally integrated into the Nordson Corporation.
Towards the end of the 1980s, the company began taking over other companies in order to strengthen its own market position. The first company to be taken over by Nordson was Industrial Coating Aktiebolag. The company continued to pursue this strategy in the 1990s and acquired other companies.
