The Communal Technology Standards Committee (NKT) is a combination of several working committees that deal with national standardization in the field of waste management and urban cleaning as part of standardization work. The NKT is one of 71 standards committees of the German Institute for Standardization .
history
The Municipal Technology Standards Committee was founded on November 26, 1968 in Frankfurt am Main at the instigation of representatives of the waste management and manufacturing industries. Before the municipal technology standards committee was founded, the individual technical guidelines were drawn up in various loosely organized working bodies and individual associations. Examples are the VKF (today VKS in the VKU ) or the VPS eV (today BDE eV ).
A first task for the committee consisted of the systematisation and terminological definition of the terms specific to municipal technology. This was followed by dimensional standards for waste collection containers and for emptying on waste collection vehicles, followed by technical and safety-related descriptions for waste collection vehicles, street cleaning and winter service vehicles.
Standard areas
Standardization work is specified for the following areas and areas: registration, collection, transport, storage, handling and treatment of solid and liquid waste as well as for street cleaning, road maintenance and winter service.
organization
The Municipal Technology Standards Committee is now divided into five specialist areas with a total of twelve national working committees and two European committees.
