Norton Partition Magic was a partition manager originally developed by PowerQuest and later acquired by Symantec . In early 2010, Symantec discontinued sales and support for the product.

Functions

The program made it possible to create, merge, convert, copy and resize partitions . In addition to Windows compatible file systems such as NTFS , FAT and FAT32 , the Linux file systems ext2 and ext3 can be managed. Up to version 5.0, the HPFS file system was also supported by IBM's operating system for Personal Computer OS / 2 .

PartitionMagic versions 1 to 3 supported the operating systems OS / 2 and the DOS / Windows versions of that time. The last version 8.0 ran under Windows NT , 98 , ME , 2000 and XP , but not under the server versions of Windows NT, 2000 and 2003 and also not under Windows Vista and Windows 7 .

The boot manager BootMagic was provided as an additional program.
