Notarikon

Notarikon ( Hebrew נוטריקון) is a method of Jewish hermeneutics , among others such as Gematria , Zeruph and Temura .

It is a method of removing every initial (Hebrew: ראשי תיבות) or final letters (Hebrew: סופי תיבות) to substitute a word for another word, resulting in words or sentences. The word notarikon is related to the Latin word notarius meaning stenographer .
