Notebook coolers (also laptop coolers or cooler pads ) are cooling units that externally support the cooling of laptops actively or passively. Some of the reasons for using it are the laptops' lack of cooling properties during long-term heavy use. The notebook coolers are usually designed as bases for notebooks.

In the case of active coolers, one or more fans can be found in these bases , which ensure an improved supply of cooling air or better transport the heated air away. The active notebook cooler is partially powered by its own power supply unit , but mostly via a USB connection to the notebook. The notebook coolers for their part offer additional features such as USB ports or memory card readers .

Passive coolers achieve their cooling performance through the use of particularly thermally conductive materials or by improving the passive air circulation around the laptop.
