Friends in need of help

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nothelfergemeinschaft der Freunde eV (NdF) has been an organization that has been working since the Second World War to rebuild relationships between peoples by sending volunteers to social and ecological projects.

Goals and Cooperations

One of its principles of the organization is that it respects every religious , ideological and political conviction equally. She works for understanding and reconciliation between people and peoples. It is based on the assumption that lasting peace is not possible without a clear attitude towards it and without just social conditions. The NdF is a voluntary non-governmental organization . It is a recognized sending organization for Weltwärts , the voluntary service of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, founded in 2007, and the International Youth Voluntary Service (IFJD) established by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs in 2011 .

In addition to peace service missions in Israel , the community in need now arranges various voluntary services in different countries around the world, especially in social or ecological projects. In contrast to pure youth organizations, it places people of all age groups. NdF volunteers are currently active in 15 countries, including Bangladesh , Myanmar , India , Cambodia , Nepal , Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Chile , Ecuador , Guatemala and some African countries.

history

The association was founded by a group of people who came together after the collapse of Germany in 1945 with the desire to gain clarity about the reasons for the world catastrophe and to help the countless needy, uprooted and desperate people materially, mentally and spiritually. It says about the founding history:

“In 1945 Paul Krahé returned from Russia as a young officer in a 200-man unit, of which only he and six of his comrades had survived. There he had vowed, if he survived, to devote the rest of his life to peace work. He sought out the psychotherapist and Quaker Gerhard Ockel in Frankfurt / Main , discussed his resolution with him and founded the Nothelfergemeinschaft der Freunde eV (NdF) in 1946 together with members of the Frankfurt Quaker group. "

After the end of the Second World War, the Nothelfergemeinschaft der Freunde eV as an international community service contributed to a peaceful coexistence of all people in this world through various voluntary services at home and abroad. In keeping with their idea of reconciliation, they are trying to set signals with their peace services . In this context, they have been working in Israel for over 50 years, where many volunteers are still involved in Jewish and Arab handicapped and elderly care institutions.
