Novine serbske ( Serbian - Cyrillic Новине сербске ) was the first Serbian- language daily newspaper that appeared on August 1, 1813 in Vienna . The paper was published every weekday for three years. From May 1816 the editing was supervised by Dimitri Davidovic and Dimitrije Frušić (both medical students).

Novine serbske initially appeared with certain restrictions and was subject to Austrian censorship . From 1815 on, business news became more and more important, later Novine serbske became a central organ of Serbian literature. As an employee of the newspaper, Vuk Stefanović Karadžić fought written arguments with opponents of his language reform. In 1817 Karadžić took over the post of editor for a short time. In the last years of its existence the newspaper appeared with a literature supplement.

After Frušić left the editorial office after completing his medical degree, Davidovic had to fight for the newspaper's survival. He bought his own printing press in 1819 and also began to print the “Zabavnik” almanac , but was unable to save the newspaper. Davidovic left Vienna in mid-1821 and moved to Serbia . He left the newspapers to his colleague, law student Petar Matic. In 1822 Novine serbske was discontinued.
