Nowhere Men

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nowhere Men is a US comic series by the author and Image Comics editor -in- chief Eric Stephenson and illustrator Nate Bellegarde, which has been running at Image Comics since November 2012 . The publication of the originally planned twelve volumes was repeatedly delayed for various reasons. The main reason was the illness of the illustrator Nate Bellegarde, which meant that volume six had to be postponed by several months to October 2013. After a break of two years, the series was resumed in January 2016 with the new cartoonist Dave Taylor. After volumes seven to eleven appeared on schedule, volume twelve is already several months late, with a currently planned publication date of February 2018. Health reasons were also given by Taylor for this.

By June 2017, eleven issues (in English ) and an anthology ( issues 1–6, in English and German) had been published. The series is part of a series of more complex and experimental comic series at Image Comics.

content

The comic is about four young scientists who trigger a hype reminiscent of Beatlemania and with their company World Corp. usher in a new age of natural laws. At the same time, the World Corp. project scheduled a year later will be illuminated in space. The astronauts involved fall victim to an accident and acquire all kinds of bizarre to superhero-like skills.

Writer Stephenson says the Beatles were one of the sources of inspiration for the comic. The special thing about the comic is the way in which apparently real documents, letters, magazine pages, interviews, logos and advertising texts are woven between the plot pages in order to create the overall picture of a fictional world. Nowhere Men reached number 12 on a best-of-the-best 2013 list from Bleeding Cool magazine, for which 23 different annual best lists were evaluated.
