The Noxious Bluff ( English for poisonous cliff ) is a 50 m high cliff of dark rock on the southwest coast of Zavodovski Island in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1971 after the poisonous gases escaping from fumaroles here .
