ns-3 ( n etwork s imulator version 3 ) is an open source simulation - Framework for Networks and the successor of ns-2. The focus of ns-3 is on the simulation of IP -based networks and good transferability of the simulation models into real implementations .

ns-3 is licensed under the GPLv2 and is therefore available for both commercial and non-commercial projects. The simulation models available as standard cover wide areas of the computer networks and include B. IPv6 , WiFi , 6LoWPAN also models for the simulation of the energy demand or movement models.
