Nuala (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nuala was a German band that was part of the Neue Deutsche Welle .

Band history

Nuala was founded in 1981 by Sünje Kesseler (vocals), Thomas Kisser (drums), Bernd-Dietrich Rosenwinkel (guitar), Andreas Unruh (keyboard) and Arthur Koll (bass).

Nuala was discovered by Frank Mille, the former guitarist of the German beat band The Rattles . He recorded the debut album Aufriss with them in 1981 . The second album Energie followed in 1983 . After the singer Sünje Kesseler left the band in 1984 and was replaced by Bettina Schischke, the musical style of the formation changed. The music became more jazzy and partly English texts were added.

In 1985, the band renamed itself after commercial failures in The Drive and released a completely English-language album called Human Drive , which could not establish itself commercially. Thereupon the band finally broke up.

Thomas Kisser alone was able to establish himself as a professional musician in the following years and composed a number of songs for the children's television program Hallo Spencer .
