Numericable Group, SA , based at the Défense near Paris, was a French public broadband internet provider .

Numericable is the only major cable operator in France. The company works with a capillary network infrastructure and serves the three segments B2C, B2B and the wholesale of transmission capacity. Numericable is the market leader in the broadband cable market in France, with a market share of 68% and 1.7 million customers.

  • In the B2C segment, the company offers customers a range of products and services under the Numericable brand , including pay TV, broadband Internet access, and landline and mobile telephony.
  • In the B2B segment, the company operates under the Completel brand and is the largest alternative operator of FTTO (Fiber To The Office) networks.

In March 2014, Numericable announced that it had submitted an offer worth EUR 11.75 billion for the French mobile operator SFR . Following a bidding war with Bouygues Telecom , Vivendi decided at the beginning of April to award Numericable the bid for a total price of EUR 17 billion.

Numericable was founded in 2002 under the management of the Luxembourg Internet fund Altice by the entrepreneur Patrick Drahi through a series of acquisitions in the consolidation of the French cable network market. In 2005 the financial investor Cinven and in 2008 Carlyle joined the company as additional shareholders. The current structure under the mantle of the Numericable Group was created in August 2013 by bringing in various parts of the company. In November 2013, the company went public on the Paris Stock Exchange. In 2016 the company was renamed SFR Group after a successful merger with SFR. The company was delisted in 2017 . Today the SFR Group operates as Altice France .
