Numbering plan
The term numbering plan ( numbering plan ) means the standardization and numbering of telephone numbers within and between the various telephone networks.
A distinction is made between international, national and private numbering plans. International numbering plans are for example:
- E.164 , the international numbering plan standardized by the ITU-T
- North American Numbering Plan , the international numbering plan standardized by Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bellcore ), to which approximately 24 countries belong
National numbering plans are usually issued by national regulatory authorities, for example by the German Federal Network Agency for Germany . Private or non-public numbering plans exist in Germany, for example, for the telephone networks of the German Federal Armed Forces or Deutsche Bahn AG .
