The Nurgasyr Mosque ( Kazakh Нұр Ғасыр мешіті ) is the largest mosque in the Kazakh city ​​of Aqtöbe . The mosque is located in the city center not far from the new St. Nicholas Cathedral , the construction of which began at the same time as the mosque. The Nurgasyr Mosque was built between 2006 and 2008.

The mosque was designed by the Russian architect Aiwar Sattarow, who also designed the Kul Sharif Mosque in Kazan . The total cost of building the mosque was 1.7 billion tenge . The project was financed by donations from citizens and companies. The opening took place at the end of September 2008.

The walls of the building are made of white marble , the large dome and the four domes of the minarets of the mosque are covered with gold . The total area of ​​the mosque is 392 square meters. The golden dome is 38 meters high, the four minarets are each 63 meters high. Washing facilities for women and men and a cloakroom are located on the first floor. On the second floor there is a large prayer room for 1000 men, on the third floor there is a prayer room for 500 women. On major holidays, the mosque can accommodate up to 4,000 people. There is also a Koran school and a library.
