The place Nussbaumen belongs to the political municipality Bülach in the canton of Zurich .

Nussbaumen emerged from an agricultural hamlet and is located on the western slope of the Dattenberg north-east of Bülach. The place was never independent politically or ecclesiastically and always belonged to Bülach. He was mentioned in a document in the years 858 and 1049, at that time still as Nuzbouma . In a document from 1268, which mentions the possessions of a daughter of the noble Hugo von Teufen , the spelling is Nusboumen .

The place really became tangible in 1412, when Nussbaumen was declared an “outer municipality” of the city of Bülach and was part of the Zurich Obervogtei Bülach until 1798. The Upper Bailiwick had only limited political autonomy until the Helvetic Revolution. Only then was it converted into a political municipality.

The church of Bülach is one of the oldest known church locations in the canton of Zurich, and is therefore the original parish of the Glatt valley . The residents of Nussbaumen still belong to the Reformed parish of Bülach, which emerged from this original parish.
