Nyamlell (alternative spelling Nymlal ) is a place in the state of Lol (until 2015 in Northern Bahr el Ghazal ) in South Sudan , northwest of the city of Aweil .

Nyamlell is located on a peninsula on the Lol River , about 80 kilometers south of the Bahr al-Arab , which forms the border between North and South Sudan here.

The place in the Aweil West district has a market square. The majority of the population in Nyamlell and the surrounding area belong to the black African Dinka people . The name Nyamlell means "the place where you eat stones".

According to reports from Francis Bok and human rights organizations, Nyamlell was attacked several times by “Arab” slave hunters from northern Sudan during the civil war (see slavery in Sudan ). Nyamlell was one of the central places where, especially in the 1990s, Christian organizations bought slaves free on a large scale.
