Nzema (also Nzima and Appolo ) is the language of the West African Nzema , with about 262,000 speakers in Ghana (2004 SIL ) in the Western Region , the south-western corner of the country.
Nzema is spoken by around 66,700 speakers (1993) in the Ivory Coast . These live mainly in the Département d'Aboisso , in the sub-prefecture of Tiapoum on the southeast coast. Many Nzema also live in Abidjan .
A recognized dialect is Evalue. The languages Ahanta , Anyi and Baule are closely related .
