The O2 Apollo Manchester (colloquially also The Apollo ; formerly known as the Apollo Theater (1938–1962, 2010), Manchester Apollo (1962–2003) and Carling Apollo Manchester (2003–09)) is a concert venue in Manchester , England .

The theater was designed by architects Peter Cummings, Alex Irvine and R. Gillespie Williams. It was originally opened as a cinema and variety theater by the actors Margaret Lockwood . In the 1970s, the theater was converted into a concert arena and has retained this use to this day. The building is operated by Live Nation Entertainment and has an audience capacity of 3,500 seats (2,514 standing and 986 seats).
