OAABS scheme

The OAABS scheme is in the fire service and other emergency services in use scheme of action and management tool to commands and orders clear and free from misunderstanding to convey.

In the context of the OAABS scheme, the recipient of the command is often a platoon leader or a squad leader .

  • Orientation : what exactly is the problem?
    • What event happened
    • How many people are affected and how badly? What injuries do they have, what dangers do they face?
    • Which measures have already been implemented?
  • Intention : What is my intention or my goal as a client?
  • Order : What specific actions should the commissioned persons take? Who does what, when, where and with what?
    • The head of operations hereby communicates how his intention is to be fulfilled.
    • In order to avoid misunderstandings and to determine the responsibilities, each person receives only one assignment. Likewise, several people do not receive a joint assignment; d. H. the responsibility for the execution of the order always lies with one person.
  • Special : Are there any special dangers and circumstances which the recipient of the command must be made aware of? Are special aids required? The client also provides information that is helpful for fulfilling the order.
  • Location : Where and how can the client be reached?
    • This makes it possible to report the completion of the order or to request support in the event of problems.
    • If the commanding officer leaves his location, he must first appoint a deputy.

A shortcut is used when time is short; the parts "intention" and "location" are then omitted.
