The OKBM Afrikantov ( Russian ОКБМ , Опытное конструкторское бюро машиностроения им. И. И. Африкантова , Experimental Engineering Design Office I. I. It is a manufacturer of the BN reactors , VK reactors , AST reactors , KLT reactors , WBER , ABV reactors , VG reactors , PWR-1000 reactors and OK reactors .
history
On March 1, 1947, the Soviet government established the Special Planning Office in the Gorky Machine Works. It should create machine components for the nuclear industry. It was later separated and is now subordinate to the Ministry of Atomic Energy as a state enterprise. Since 1998 it has had the addition of I. I. Afrikantow , a former chief designer and director.
OKBM Afrikantov has a new control system for the reactor of the type VVER of OKB Gidropress designed. The company employs a total of more than 3,600 workers and has built more than 500 commercial and research reactors.
Among other things, the company has built the BN-600 reactor Belojarsk 3 as well as the AST reactors in Gorky and Voronezh and is currently building block 4 (BN-800) in Belojarsk. The company has also built some reactors for OK submarines . The company is currently manufacturing the two KLT-40S reactors for the Akademik Lomonossow nuclear power plant .
