OMX Tallinn Index

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The OMX Tallinn Index is an index calculated by the Scandinavian OMX Group , which includes the public companies traded on the Estonian Stock Exchange, the Tallinn Stock Exchange. The index has caused a sensation in recent years and has increased its value fivefold since 2003 alone. As part of a performance construction, dividends paid are also included in the performance. All 18 companies from the Main and Secondary List trading segments are included in the all-share index. The companies are weighted according to market capitalization ; the free float is not taken into account here, but companies that are more than 90 percent in the hands of a shareholder are not even included. The composition resulting from these rules is so diversified. Only the real estate and construction sectors are each represented twice. In addition, the OMX Tallinn includes, for example, a casino operator, a brewery and a fashion manufacturer. The telecommunications provider Eesti Telekom (24.6 percent) and the shipping company Tallink Group (17.3 percent) have the largest share in the index.
