history

On December 22nd, 1941, the decision was made to build a protected operating room in the Erwin Lieck Hospital (now the Humboldt Hospital ) for emergency operations. The shell could be completed at short notice, the acceptance took place on February 20, 1942. By 1945, 24 more operating room bunkers , some with several operating rooms or delivery rooms, were built in Berlin .

After the Humboldt Hospital was moved to a new location, the bunker was used as a warehouse. The operating room bunker has been restored by the Berliner Unterwelten Association and expanded into a documentation center for exhibitions on the history of the operating room bunker and the Humboldt Hospital . It can be viewed on guided tours.
