history

In 1973 the Federal Association for Orthopedic Technology invited to the first annual general meeting with a specialist program and exhibition in Berlin. It opened its doors in 1976 in Düsseldorf as ORTHOPÄDIE TECHNIK international. In 1985, the event was renamed ORTHOPÄDIE + REHA-TECHNIK international as a consequence of the expansion of the product areas.

The steady growth in exhibitors and visitors, the expansion of the range of products on offer, its internationality and the merging of the specialist societies and professions involved in the rehabilitation process in the trade fair and congress has made the event a global industry platform. In 2013 the event was renamed OTWorld.

Up to 2010, the fair recorded an increase in exhibitors and visitors, the number of which has stagnated at the size level since then. While this trade fair had 318 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors in 2000, the last trade fair in 2016 saw 542 exhibitors and 21,300 visitors.
