Oasis effect

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the so-called oasis effect , a larger amount of energy is available for evaporation than is supplied by radiation alone ( LE > Q N ).

The prerequisite for the oasis effect is an irrigated location with an arid environment (oasis).

process

Warm, dry air flows over a very damp surface. This results in a large flow of latent heat away from the surface. The surface therefore cools down very strongly, creating a flow of sensible heat towards the surface. In addition, there is a heat flow from the ground to the surface.
