Obedience (church property)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Obedience (Latin: obedientia, also: oboedientia: "obedience, appendix"; oboediens: "obedient") or Oblei is a special ecclesiastical fund that is usually a donation to a collegiate monastery or cathedral chapter . Obediences are not part of the foundation's assets and are therefore usually under the separate administration of an individual, e.g. B. a member of the churches mentioned.

For example, the Upper Franconian Pettstadt was an Oblei of the Bamberg cathedral chapter, which was thus village, community and feudal lord at the same time.
