The Saarbrücken trolleybus was the trolleybus operator of the Saarland state capital Saarbrücken .

history

It was opened on November 12, 1948 as a supplement to the local tram and operated by the Gesellschaft für Straßenbahnen im Saartal (GSS). The trolleybus replaced tram line 13 in 1948 and tram line 10 in 1953. At that time, 16 trolleybuses were available for operation. At times up to eight million passengers were carried annually. On May 12, 1964 the trolleybus traffic was stopped and replaced by omnibuses. There are only a few relics left that remind of the trolleybus. Catenary masts still exist at the 40s grave , as well as in nearby streets that the trolleybus used. They were mostly converted into street lights.
