The Obermain Therme is a thermal brine bath with a sauna area in Bad Staffelstein in Upper Franconia . The facility was opened in 1986.

History of origin

The town of Staffelstein carried out the first well in 1975 . In 1600 meters depth was Bavaria warmest and strongest thermal sole with an outlet temperature of 52 ° C and a nine percent mineralization discovered. From October 1, 1976 to December 15, 1985, the first bathing establishment developed in a provisional setting with 854,000 bathers during this period. In 1979 the association for thermal brine baths in Staffelstein was established. The Lichtenfels district and the city of Staffelstein are responsible for each 50% share . The Obermain Therme was inaugurated on December 30, 1985 and the thermal brine bath was opened for bathers on January 2, 1986. The millionth bather was welcomed back in January 1988. In July 1989, the Obermain Therme spa center was opened, offering classic therapies. In 1992 the extended outdoor area of ​​the thermal bath was opened. In 1993 a second successful drilling followed to a depth of 1180 m. The water temperature of the brine is 53 ° C, the mineralization 12%. In 1994 the bathroom was expanded again and the sauna facility was created. In 1999 the spa park with graduation tower was opened to the public, in 2004 and ten years later, in 2014, the sauna area was expanded. In 2015, the RV site with 27 parking spaces was opened directly at the Obermain Therme and in the immediate vicinity of the spa park. Since 2016, some areas of the thermal bath have been renovated and put back into operation.
