Supreme Federal Court

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Supreme Federal Court in Germany was the cross- judicial federal court provided for in the original version of Article 95 of the Basic Law , which was to be set up to safeguard the unity of federal law and to decide cases where the uniformity of the case law of the five higher federal courts was of fundamental importance.

This court was never established. The function envisaged for the highest federal court is exercised instead by the joint senate of the highest federal courts . Each of the five highest courts for the respective legal process according to Article 95 of the Basic Law is now designated as the highest court of justice of the Federation .
