The Devasthal Observatory is an astronomical observatory located on Mount Devasthal ( Hindi देवस्थल , literally “God's abode”) at an altitude of 2,450 m in the Western Himalayas in the Nainital district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand . The observatory houses several large mirror telescopes and is directed by the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES).

A telescope with 130 cm aperture has been used since 2010, a 360 cm telescope was added in 2015 and a 400 cm liquid mirror telescope was also built. The place has an astronomical seeing of 0.6 ".
