The observatory is located at the foot of Lund's old water tower, Gamla vattentornet . The 1.4 m CAT telescope is installed on this, which is no longer in its original use.
The Lund Observatory is an observatory in the Swedish city of Lund , which is assigned to the University of Lund .
The buildings of the observatory are located on a no longer used water tower in the north of the city. Since 2006 it has been used as the basis for Sweden's largest telescope, a reflecting telescope (Coudé Auxiliary Telescope CAT) from the La Silla Observatory with a 1.4 m aperture . Due to the elevated position on the water tower, improved seeing is achieved, as this is not affected by turbulence near the ground.
