The Obsidian Hotel was the only hotel on Ascension , part of the British overseas territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha . It belonged to the Obsidian Group , which also operated a few vacation homes on the island.
The hotel had 17 en-suite rooms with air conditioning, a restaurant and a popular bar called The Anchor Inn . The hotel had its own gift shop.
The hotel ceased operations at the end of September 2017.
