Oda Jaune

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oda Jaune (real name Susan Michaela Immendorf , born November 13, 1979 in Sofia as Susan Michaela Danowska , Bulgarian Михаела Дановска ) is a Bulgarian painter .

Life

Her father is a graphic artist, her older sister Joana studied painting at AR Penck in Düsseldorf . As a teenager she was adopted by her aunt so that she could go to school in Germany and her name was Susan Warsteit . At the age of 13 she came to Heidelberg to attend a Waldorf school for a year. At the age of 17 she met Jörg Immendorff and was tutored by him. She studied from 1998 to 2003 as his master class student at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . Exhibitions took her to the Kunsthalle Koblenz (2004), the Davide Di Maggio gallery in Berlin (2006), the Fondazione Mudima in Milan (2007) and the Daniel Templon gallery in Paris (2009).

Her teacher and later husband Immendorff chose the stage name Oda Jaune. It is derived from Oda (old German: treasure, valuable) and Jaune (French: yellow; pronunciation ? / I ), Immendorff's favorite color. He gave her this name in the form of an identity card with the inscription “Gyntiana”, the imaginary land devised by Henrik Ibsen , in which there are no borders and in which everything is possible. The reason for the name change was that Oda did not want to work under her real name, as her father and sister already did. Audio file / audio sample

Since 2000 she has been the wife of Immendorff, who died on May 28, 2007 and with whom she has a daughter born in 2001. Since 2008 she lives and works in Paris.
