Oedelem

Oedelem is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders and a part of the municipality of Beernem .

Oedelem is first mentioned as Udelhem in 906 . In the 10th century, the Praet fiefdom was founded here, whose owners, the family of the same name, the Flanders should play an essential role.

At Oedelem, Philipp van Artevelde launched a successful surprise attack on May 3, 1382 on the followers of Count Ludwig von Malen , which went down in history as the battle on the Beverhoutsveld .
