Ohiki is a southern Japanese breed of bantam that belongs to the group of long-tailed chickens . The breed was initially known under the name Minohiki-Chabo and has been detectable in Kōchi since the beginning of the 18th century . It was not imported into Germany until the 1990s.
Ohiki means something like tail tug, which comes from the fact that the roosters of this breed have a very long tail and saddle hangings. The rooster weighs a maximum of 900 g and the hen 750 g. The ring size of the rooster is 13, the hen 11. Recognized colors are gold- and silver-necked, but some breeders in Germany also have orange-necked individuals.
The chicken breed is very tame in nature.
