The Ohio Scientific Superboard II , sold from 1978 for US $ 279, was a typical representative of the early generation of microcomputers . Based on the 6502 processor , the whole computer consisted only of a large motherboard on which the keyboard was also located (as was widespread at the time without cursor keys and numeric keypad). Housing and power supply were available as accessories.

The OS Superboard II had a 40 × 25 character text output via video output (not necessarily a matter of course for computers of this type and price range at the time) and a cassette port according to the Kansas City standard for data backup. The ROM contained a Microsoft BASIC and a monitor program, the RAM memory could be equipped with 4 KB or 8 KB.
