Ohle body

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ohle Dörp is the remains of an early medieval ramparts near the Stade district Great tuna on the southwest outskirts of the Hanseatic city.

The facility was located on a topographically elevated point on the Stader Schwingewiesen and had an area of 90 by 70 meters. In contrast to the neighboring Schwedenschanze , the ramparts were completely removed. Only a plateau remained, which is now used as a horse pasture. Traces of settlement such as post holes, pits and ovens were discovered inside. The demolished wall was 10 meters wide.

The old rampart was found by geophysical investigations of the earth's magnetic field in the area around the Schwedenschanze in spring 2009. According to oral tradition, the parcel is referred to as the Ohle Dbod ( Low German 'Old Village'), where fragments from the time between 700 and 1000 AD were found in the past.

It is unclear whether the Ohlen Dämp is a predecessor or successor to the Schwedenschanze, or whether both systems were used at the same time.
